The Open House Shop
Country Fox spent the weekend visiting Brookville hunting for antiques and items for our future DIY projects. The Open House Shop was one of our stops.
Old Location
The Open House Shop used to be found a few miles away on the other side of Brookville. Their old building had smaller rooms full of antiques, rustic and vintage items. We had found several unique items in their past location. It had been quite a while since we had been there. We were quite surprised when we drove to their old location first. After a quick internet search we discovered they had moved. They moved in July of 2019.
New Home
Their new location places The Open House Shop in the heart of historic Brookville. Visitors entering their shop will be surprised by how large and open their shop is in their new location.
What do they Offer?
The New
The Open House Shop has a large selection of items. Let’s start with the new items. You may be wondering why an antique store has new items. The owners sell hand made custom farmhouse tables. The tables are created by local craftsmen. All their new furniture is made in America, most of it locally. There was some beautiful pottery, and dishes to peruse.
The Old
This is the real reason Country Fox visited. There were many antiques to walk through. Crocks and cast iron cookware could be found here and there. Rolling pins, glass jars, and giant barrels were all over.
And the Rustic
Some items fall into the antique and vintage category and some fall into the new. Rustic and country décor can really be either category. There were many decorative items for sale here. Paintings and nick-knacks abound. Quilts, weather vanes and lanterns were all beautiful to look at.
Final Thoughts on The Open House Shop
There were more new rustic items and vintage inspired folk art and furnishings than traditional antiques. We enjoyed going through the store and seeing the mix of old and new. Interested in visiting? Check out and like their Facebook page.
