A Quick Nomadic Experience
This weekend I made a quick stop at an old factory in Punxsutawney, which opened it’s doors for a gathering of vendors hawking their goods. The building was a silk mill in the 19th century and has since been turned into a space for vendors of antique, artisan and hand made goods.
The Nomadic Trading Company hosts many events throughout the year that allow customers to come in and peruse the vendors goods. This weekend was their $20 and Under: Trash to Treasure Sale. On the first floor all the vendors who set up their booths sold their goods for, as the title suggests $20 and under. For example, I purchased a lovely teapot for $5. The goods vary from license plates, stamps, and crates to dressers, dolls and tools. The first floor is expansive and can hold a lot of items.
Nomadic is a great place to stop in for a quick look around. We spent about half an hour here this morning. While both the first and second floor are large and full of items, one can make their way around pretty quickly or can take a leisurely stroll through. This sale is a great way to get some neat items pretty cheap too.
The $20 and Under Sale took place on the first floor while on the second floor, the more permanent vendors sold their goods at their regular prices. The second floor has built in rooms and booths that create a more permanent feel. This floor also contains a large variety of items that one can purchase. While the $20 and Under Sale wasn’t going on up here, I still managed to find a couple of neat antique items for $6.
No matter which floor or what sale is going on, Nomadic is a gold mine for those who love to buy goods and re-purpose them. Doors and windows of all shapes and sizes are all around. Drawers of varying sizes can be found in many spaces. Old barn wood, trunks, dolls, spindles, and so much more can be bought for very little money and turned into some amazing things and sold on various sites or at yard sales.
As we were wandering from the first floor to the second floor we found this amazing carved viking statue. He comes in some where around 8 feet tall.
