Country Fox is back from her Winter hibernation with her trip to Alchemie, The Magic of Mixing and Mingling. Located at 512 Chestnut Street in Cambria City, Alchemie is a unique place to stop and get some unique drinks.

Alchemy: Noun

According to the Merrian Webster Dictionary, alchemy is the medieval science and philosophy which attempts to achieve the transmutation of the base metals into gold. Alchemy may also lead to the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life. Alchemie, The Magic of Mixing and Mingling does just that.

The bartender takes some basic ingredients and turns them into gold in the form of an amazing drink. These drinks and the cozy environment may help visitors to relax and find peace, all of which may just prolong their lives. So basically, Alchemie has discovered and perfected the ancient secrets of alchemy.

Part of the Family

Alchemie is a new addition to the Stella Property Development and Event Production group. In the past I have covered Brigid’s Cross Religious and Spiritual Treasures, another property owned by Stella. I will cover the other properties and locations under the Stella umbrella in future posts.

Stella is a family-owned company that focuses on developing culturally significant properties in the Cambria City Historic District in Johnstown. Founded in 2015, Stella works hard to enhance the cultural offerings by restoring and reusing historical properties and they enhance the economic growth of these properties by creating events and spaces that promote community through the celebration of local heritage, tradition and values.

Inside Alchemie

Alchemie is a cozy gathering space. Stella completely reimagined the space to create a unique environment full of repurposed items. The bar top is made from old, discarded church pews. Visitors can see the 140-year-old bricks. A variety of religious statues and items can be found all around the room. Wooden forms, church lights and bottles have all been repurposed and used throughout the space.

Ingredients

Alchemie creates cocktails infused with herbs they harvest from the Shrines and Gardens. Some drinks utilize imported goods from Italy that can be purchased from Amerigo’s, such as their cherries. Such tasty cherries!

Most of the alcohol comes from Disobedient Spirits in Homer City. They are also a future post.

Alchemie can make visitors a variety of cocktails from standards like an Old Fashioned to specialty drinks such as their Honeysuckle Mimosas. Keep an eye out on their Facebook page to see what specials they have going on.
