An Herbal Affair
An herbal affair is coming this weekend at the Dillweed Bed and Breakfast. The annual Herb Faire is always a treat. Read on to find out what goes on at an Herb Faire.
Herbs Galore
Each year the Dillweed Bed and Breakfast hosts the Herb Faire. The Herb Study Group of Indiana County sets up a booth. They are an amazing fount of information. Their booth contains potted herbs for sale. They also have booklets detailing herbal information. Every so often the Herbal Study Group gives a presentation about the herb of the year. This years herb was Parsley.
Flower Power
There were several vendors selling flowers, herbs and garden plants. A few shade loving plants and plenty of sun loving bloomers. Tomatoes, peppers and a few other garden plants could be found. Country Fox lives in a shady environment, so I had to keep my eyes out for some shade lovers. We managed to find a few plants that would work for us.
Other Vendors
One of the nice things about the Herb Faire is the variety of other vendors. There were a couple of sign makers, one of which was Sunkissed Country. Interested in learning more about them? Visit my blog here.
There were a couple of dried herb sellers. The Cottage of Herbs had some herbal dip mixes such as a Horseradish and Bacon Dip. They had dry rubs, gourmet herb vinegars and teas.
Sugar Grove Herbs had a wide variety of teas. So. Many. Teas. Their shop is located in the Georgian Place in Somerset. Country Fox hopes to do a blog on Sugar Grove Herbs sometime this summer. I’m always looking for a good place to get loose leaf tea.
There were a couple of homemade soap crafters. Each had their own wide variety of scents and colors. There were a couple of small hand-crafted jewlers on site as well. There was one potter selling her goods. The Working Hen had a wonderful collection of pottery goods and reasonable prices. She has no shop yet, but can be reached at theworkinghen@gmail.com.
An Herbal Affair In Conclusion
Each year on the second Saturday of June, the Dillweed Bed and Breakfast hosts the Herb Faire. It is definitely worth a visit. There are plenty of flowers, herbs and garden plants for sale. The Herb Faire is a great place to find unique handmade items from teas to soap to pottery.
